First, different weaving methods.
Plain weave fabric in which the warp and weft are interwoven at every other thread. In the process of weaving plain weave fabrics warp and weft weave together to form parallel lines.
In twill fabric, the warp and weft interlace at least once at a interval of two, that is, two up and one down, or three up and one down; Warp and weft interlace to form a diagonal pattern, the use of increasing the warp and weft interlace points, the organization point is continuous, change the fabric layout of the interweaving mode woven fabric, warp and weft yarn interlace times less than plain weave, yarn arrangement is closer, so it is tighter and thicker than plain weave fabric.
The warp and weft interlace at least once at a interval of three, and at least five warp/weft interlace to form a complete satin weave. The warp and weft yarns form some separate and unconnected warp and weft points in the fabric. The warp and weft yarns interweave less, the interweave points are the least, and the floating lines are the longest. The surface of the fabric is almost entirely composed of floating lines in the warp or weft direction. The surface appears to have a twill, but it does not have as distinct a grain as the twill.
Second, fabric characteristics are different.
Plain fabric is characterized by more interweaving points, fast texture, flat surface, the appearance of the same effect on the front and back, relatively thin, good air permeability. The structure of the plain grain determines its low density and rough touch. Generally speaking, the price of plain fabric is lower. The most typical plain fabric, is we often hear the old coarse cloth! But there are a few plain fabric prices more expensive, such as some high-grade embroidered fabrics.
Twill fabric is easier to identify, because the warp and weft interweaving point on the surface of the fabric presents a certain Angle of the twill structure. It is characterized by positive and negative points, less interweaving points, longer floating lines, slightly rough touch, higher density, relatively thick products, strong three-dimensional sense of organization. The number of branches is 30, 40, 60.
Satin fabrics cost more than similar plain and twill fabrics, fabric density is higher, the fabric is thicker. And the cloth surface is smoother, delicate, soft, glossy, bright color, good elasticity, tight texture and not easy to deform, with excellent touch. Generally 40 ~ 60 yarn count.
Finally, satin (sateen) fabric is the best of pure cotton fabrics in terms of craftsmanship and comfort.
